The Battle over the Convention of States

Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action, writes in his newsletters, “Article V of the Constitution authorizes state legislatures to call a “Convention of States” to propose amendments to the Constitution. This is not true.
In 2014 the Florida Legislature passed an Application for a Convention of States. Mark Meckler didn’t say Florida or any legislature should pass an Application for a Convention of States but the U.S. Constitution does. The Constitution also says, “The Congress, … on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the states, shall call a Convention of States.” States make an application but Congress calls the Convention. Mr. Meckler’s letter is misleading.
With the Meckler letter there are pictures of Convention of States supporters. They include: Gov. Ron DeSantis, Mark Levine, Sean Hannity, Ben Shapiro, and others. The pictures I would prefer to see include those who gave us the United States Constitution: George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, as well as those who saw the risks of a Convention of States: Chief Justice Warren Burger, Justice Antonin Scalia and Phyllis Schlafly.
Phyllis Schlafly opposed the Convention of States and at the same time she opposed and, after ten years, defeated the Equal Rights Amendment. Itreads: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
If the left would go to the morgue and dig up the old Equal Rights Amendment, with the term sex now redefined as gender equity, introduce and ratify it by a Constitutional Convention, that would put transgender sex in the U.S. Constitution.
Globalists billionaires Soros, Zuckerberg, Koch and others will no doubt be ready to bankroll such an effort. An omnibus convention of amendments will no doubt follow the mantra of the left, that is, “you have to pass it to know what’s in it.”
